1. MITOCHONDRIAL REPLACEMENT THERAPY (MRT)

MRT

What it is

Mitochondria is the power the egg. With age, mitochondrial function declines, which reduces egg quality and embryo development.
Mitochondrial Replacement Therapy (MRT) replaces the egg’s impaired mitochondria with healthy mitochondria from a donor egg, while keeping your nuclear DNA.

Dr. Zaher Merhi contributed to the team behind the world’s first MRT baby (Mexico).

Benefits & considerations

Benefits

  • Aims to improve egg energy and embryo quality

  • Preserves your genetic identity (nuclear DNA)

  • Conducted in a high-tech IVF lab at RFC Bahamas.

Considerations

  • Clinical MRT is not available in the U.S. (current federal restriction on FDA review)

  • Performed only where local regulations allow - Our Bahamas Location.

Who it’s for

  • Advanced maternal age

  • Low / diminished ovarian reserve (low AMH / high FSH)

  • Poor egg or embryo quality despite prior IVF

  • Menopause or Premature Ovarian Insufficiency/Failure (POI/POF)

  • Patients seeking a biologically related child at any age using their own nuclear DNA

How it’s done

Before your trip

  • Medical counseling to confirm eligibility

  • Collect and freeze your eggs (egg freezing) and sperm

  • Donor eggs are sourced and prepared for healthy mitochondria

In the Bahamas

  • Your eggs are carefully combined with donor egg mitochondria

  • The reconstructed eggs mature and are fertilized in our IVF lab

  • Healthy embryos are frozen for later transfer — usually done in one visit

2. STEM CELL / EXOSOME REJUVENATION

Exosome Therapy for POI and Diminished Ovarian Reserve

What it is

Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles released by mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) that carry proteins, lipids, and RNA—key signals for cell-to-cell communication. Rather than infusing donor stem cells, exosome therapy uses purified, sterilized exosomes sourced from FDA-approved U.S. suppliers and administered to target tissues to support cellular repair and signaling.

Benefits & considerations

Benefits

  • Powerful cell-signaling support (exosomes contain high growth-factor content—often reported ~3× vs. adult stem cells)

  • Anti-inflammatory & anti-fibrotic actions

  • Flexible targeting (ovary, uterus, vagina)

Considerations

  • Not all patients are candidates; a medical review is required

Who it’s for

Ovarian rejuvenation

  • Menopause

  • Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI)

  • Low/Diminished Ovarian Reserve (low AMH, high FSH)

  • Poor egg/embryo quality

Uterine rejuvenation

  • Thin or poor-quality endometrium

  • Failed implantation / chemical pregnancy

  • Asherman’s syndrome

  • Recurrent miscarriage related to lining issues

Vaginal rejuvenation

  • Vaginal dryness or discomfort with intercourse

  • Low libido

  • Excessive vaginal laxity

How it’s done

Exosome vials (and/or stem cells) are purchased from the U.S. then shipped, stored at RFC Bahamas.

Ultrasound-guided injections:

  • Ovaries and/or uterus and/or vagina receive targeted exosome injections.

  • Anesthesia is typically used; most patients go home the same day.

3. IVF & EGG FREEZING

IVF

What it is

IVF at RFC includes Personalized IVF, Natural IVF, and Mini-IVF, as well as egg and embryo freezing. Protocols are adapted for women with low AMH, high FSH, PCOS, or prior poor response to conventional IVF—aiming for quality embryos with minimal burden.

Benefits & considerations

Benefits

  • Tailored stimulation (including gentle or no-stim options)

  • Option to test embryos (PGT)

  • Fertility preservation (eggs/embryos)

Considerations

  • Multiple visits for monitoring

  • Ovarian stimulation side-effects vary

  • Not all eggs fertilize or lead to embryos

Who it’s for

  • Women planning pregnancy now or later (fertility preservation)

  • Low ovarian reserve (low AMH / high FSH)

  • PCOS

  • Prior poor response to stimulation

  • Those preferring low-stimulation or natural-cycle options

How it’s done

  1. Consult & labs – history, ultrasound, AMH/FSH and tailored plan.

  2. Stimulation (if chosen) – conventional, mini, or natural monitoring.

  3. Egg retrieval – brief procedure under sedation.

  4. Fertilization & embryo culture – ICSI/standard; option for PGT.

  5. Transfer or freezing – embryo transfer now, or freeze embryos/eggs for later.
